11 bit studios announced that Frostpunk 2 will feature full modding support through a tool called FrostKit, launching in beta later this month. With FrostKit, players can create custom maps, models, and scenarios. Unlike the original Frostpunk, which lacked mod support due to its proprietary engine, the switch to Unreal Engine allows for this new functionality. The tool will be tested through a closed beta before its official release.
This news is even more exciting because our friends at mod.io will be partnering with 11 bit studios and supporting their modding tool. We reached out to them for a brief comment:
"We're super proud of supporting the work done by 11 Bit Studios to bring mod support to Frostpunk 2; with their official modding tool, in-game integration using our services, and collaboration with creators to gather feedback and create content ahead of release. It's been a real pleasure witnessing the incredibly positive reaction from their community!"
Don't miss this insightful read! One of the latest articles from Nexus Mods is a must-read for all modders and fans of modding. We highly recommend checking out their coverage of the standout games featured at Gamescom 2024 and the exciting potential for modding. At ReadyCode, weâre always considering how adding mod support to newly announced games can extend their lifespan, boost marketing efforts, and deepen community engagement. After all, our mission as a company is to make it easier for developers and publishers to integrate mod support into every game, enhancing the gaming experience for everyone.
Stalker 2 will launch on November 20 without hardware ray tracing, official mod support, or multiplayer. The developers at GSC Game World are focusing on polishing the single-player experience for the release. However, they plan to introduce these features post-launch, with mod support coming as close to the release date as possible. The team is exploring options like mod.io and other platforms to structure the modding scene effectively. For fans of modding, this is a significant update to watch as it promises enhanced community engagement and gameplay possibilities down the line.
Modders have quickly jumped into action for Black Myth: Wukong, adding exciting new content. Notably, modder NorskPL has introduced Dragon Ball Z's Goku and Darth Maul from Star Wars as playable characters. Other mods include a jar helmet inspired by Elden Ring's Let Me Solo Her and Tifa from Final Fantasy, thanks to Yui. Additionally, wmm555 and bilibiliGM have created a "Simple Map" mod to address the game's lack of a map, adding a fullscreen, zoomable map with resource displays. Fans of modding should definitely check out these creative additions!
